I will be travelling to the following locations in this order.

CAEN France - AMSTERDAM Holland

AMSTERDAM Holland - PARIS France

PARIS France - BORDEAUX France

BORDEAUX France - MONTPELLIER France

MONTPELLIER France - BARCELONA Spain

BARCELONA Spain - VALENCIA Spain

VALENCIA Spain - MALAGA Spain

MALAGA Spain - CAEN France

After Malaga I will be travelling back to the Caen area to get the boat back to the UK.

Should I buy a rail pass of somesort or point to point tickets? I will be staying in each place for around 3/5 days.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

  1. If you go to www.raileurope.com - you can compare the cost of point to point tickets with those of a pass.

  2. The cheapest you can find.

  3. Don't use the raileurope site to compare prices, since it gives very high prices for point-to-point tickets.  You can get much better prices for point-to-point tickets just by buying them in Europe as you go along.

I'm pretty sure a railpass would make sense in your case (French trains are expensive, Spanish trains are moderately expensive, and the trips to and from Amsterdam would cost a lot of money), but you can get a pass called a Eurail Select Pass that only covers France/Spain/Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg are counted as one country) and that only has 8 travel days, so you don't have to pay extra for the all-Europe unlimited trips pass.
