Question:

What type of ID can I use to check in to my flight? (I'm a minor)?

I read the airlines policies and they say I need a government issued photo id to check in. I'm 15 and I don't have a drivers license or passport. What should I use? Is a school id or birth certificate sufficient?

Thanks in advance

  1. i had to go on a flight when i was 13 and i had to use an id, i used my school id and that was fine.

  2. birth certificates are fine for minors on domestic flights.

  3. You could always go down to the DMV and get a state ID card. It looks similar to a license and it'll work.

I'm not sure about other states, but here it's $20 for one that lasts for 5 years.

Go to http://www.dmv.org/ and click on your state, more, and Identification cards. It'll bring you to a page with information on what you need to bring with you to get the id. You'll have to scroll down a little because of the ads.
