What type of SLR camera is best for skateboarding that runs under $900?

Under $900 for body only?

Unfortunately all the fast shooters cost over $1700.  Notably the D300 ($1700 @ 6 fps), D700 ($3,000 @ 5 fps, full frame) and D3 ($5,000 @ 9, full frame to 11 fps)

You may find a good used D200 (under $1000 @ 5 fps) on craigslist

Take a good long look at Nikon’s P80 …big zoom 18X and at 13.5 fps  that’s fast …it will stop anything going 500 + mph ,,, priced under $400.

Olympus SP 570    20X zoom also 13.5 fps  under $500.

Been looking at both camera’s this week …still up in the air…

most DSLR cameras have a function to shoot multiple frames at one time.

I shoot with a Canon 10D, which retails for about $600.

For skatboarding, or any other "fast" movement, you would want to buy a sport lens.  they capture movement better :)
