What type of Spider???

Question

Found in woods at night in North Carolina. Made tunnel like home between trees and old wood. spider looks black with large front legs. Spider itself is quite large also, perhaps quarter-dollar sized.

It looks like what you have is a Funnel Weaver spider.  It belongs to the same genus as the Grass Spider, which is Agelenidae, but your picture looks like more the the Funnel than the Grass species.  Its not related the the Australian Funnel Web Spider, which is probably the most venomous spider in the world.
