What type of accent do people from Chester have?

  1. They have a Cheshire accent its a cross between Warrington and Stockport


  2. They would have a chechire accent if that is where they were brought up

Sadly, it's true that the nearest description one can make is that it's basically Liverpool, where they say "WERK" instead of WORK (or "WIRKCH" even, when the last K becomes a gutteral .."CH" sound. ). But in Chester it's softened by being mingled with Welsh, Shropshire, and Lancashire accents, that sound marginally more civilized and less unattractive.

    I'm not knocking Liverpool, or Liverpudlians, - they're great, and have fantastic wit, and  sense of humour.... it's just that most English people probably find that "Scouse" as their accent is called, give a (false) impression of ignorance and poverty.

    If you want to get a sample, think "Cilla" or "Ringo.
