  1. Goldfish require a 20 gallon tank for one fish with 10 gallons more for each additional fish.  If you can't provide that then the best thing to do is return the fish before they are harmed.  All algae eaters get much too large to keep in small tanks.

  2. This is gunna sound ridiculous, but try putting fresh water snails in the tank, they're tiny and if you put a few in the water they'll eat all the algae, and as they're hard shelled they're really simple to get out.

    xx

  3. 2 comet/common/carnival goldfish need 60 gallons minimum

2 fancy goldfish need 30 gallons minimum

i am going to guess you wont upgrade and just let them die a little younger

i have nothing against this as people have kept goldfish in bowls for over 5 years

    plecostomus (plecos)

are tropical and most grow over a foot so thats a no

    chinese/gold algae eater/sucking loach

these are also tropical and get big and aggressive so thats a no

    hillstreem loach

i am not sure if they eat algae or not but i would guess they do as they suck on the sides. if you have a strong current in your tank you may be able to find a coldwater one.

    snail

apple snails are great but not if you have live plants

    i hope i have helped

  4. only pleco's but you need to make sure there either the bristle nose or rubber lip breed all other forms of plecos will kill goldfish.

  5. There's really only one algae eater that goes well with goldfish. The APPLE SNAIL (Sometimes called the Mystery Snail). There's a website with tips on Apple Snail care here; applesnail.net.

Plecos develop a taste for goldfish mucus, and start sticking to them, this can open up the fish to infection, and its ANNOYING.

Other snails can infest your tank, including most genera of pond snails.

    Good Luck.

P.S. Most Apple Snails are always available at your local pet shop / aquatic centre.

  6. pleco's. Ghost shrimp

  7. Bristlenose Pleco..

    that's what they call them

They are good n suitable because they are the friendliest among all other pleco(sucker fish)...

    People thinks that pleco are friendly n peaceful because they dont move much. WRONG! because they roam around at night. I have seen their fierce side at night.. kinda OMG!! haha.;

Oh, so bristlenose pleco is not only friendly, they are also small. they wont grow too huge whereby most commno pleco, GRow up to really huge!

....and snails.. they are cute lookning BUT they can QUICKLY get infested. Its almost impossible to get rid of them after that.. think twice before getting them!!

  8. snails from the fish shop ive got some goldfish and i put some in the tank

  9. A goldfish is colwater, and they need lots of room! If not given at least 10 gallons per fish there growth will be stunted and there organs will keep growing until they die a slow painful death of organ faiure! All plecos are tropical fish while goldfish are coldwater. If you use a heater then the goldfish will get disease and die faster and if you don't use a heater the pleco will get disease and die faster. There is a coldwater suckerfish but I can not find any info on it or the name...pretty sure it is called an asian pleco or something like that. Bottom line tho, you need a bigger tank.

  10. a cheap one,  because many goldfish are nippers and normally end up klling other fish by niping

  11. dont listen to mokey, get a snail, or a pleco

  12. a snail. anything else will get too big and outgrow the tank - she'll need to get something bigger than a 10 gallon for a couple of goldfish- they can grow up to a foot in length, and if they don't have the room to grow it will stress them out to the point of getting fishie diseases or an early demise. In a bigger tank, you could add a plecostomus for the algae eater - but they also will grow to about a foot long!
