What type of amp for a s12L7 at 4 ohms?

i got a single L7 at 4 ohms and i was wondering what type of amp ta get...i bought a 1800 watt max 2 channel power acoustik but when they installed it they said they couldnt bridged it becuase it would blow my amp because my amp was 2 ohm stable.....but i thought i had a 4 ohm that would be reduced to 2 ohm when installed?....

  1. yes when installed in, it could be reduced to 2ohms if bridged your amp would fry

    in your situation id have it at 2ohms stereo or 8ohms bridge, pick up annother solobaric L7 so you could install it at 4ohms, or gert a mono 2ohm amplifier


  2. How many voice coils does the L7 have? Im assuming dual 4 ohm coils.

    Wiring both coils in parallel will give the amp a 2 ohm load. If its not stable, it wont work. Wiring the coils in series and get a 8 ohm load, not enough power. Is the amp 2 ohm stable bridged? Probably not. Thats why they didn't bridge it.

    The Rockford Fosgate T5001bd will work nice with that sub. It gets in the 800 watt range at 2 ohms.
