Question:

What type of back up hard drive should i get? internal or external?

i need to add about 250 gb to my system. i already have a external hard drive case and i am wondering whether i should just buy an internal hard drive and place it in the case or buy the full on external hard drive. let me know what you think and brand/product suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  1. Go for the external hard drive. I bought one recently, ( My Book 320gb) and it works great. Try Wall mart it was like 80 bucks.

    The biggest advantage to an external drive, is that you can backup your main drive, and store the external in a safe place.

  3. I suppose it would depend on the functionality you expect to have. I have a 500 gb external and that is fine for me because I can use it for multiple computers if I like. But if you wanted to partition it so you could boot from it I would go internal due to the fact that I have read that booting from an external HD takes awhile. But I also read that it can be done.

    I paid $120 for mine and I have seen it on sale for $100 lately it is a Seagate so maybe cost would be a factor in your decision too.

      Anyway good luck with whichever you decide.
