  1. Don't fish they have lifes too!

  2. i would use feathers to catch a mackerel and then use that fish for bait , cast out towards every third wave i think it is, sea bass like rocks and gallows so use a break away weight as it can break free from rocks easier , ive aslo heard baited feathers are highly effective so put some mackerel on maybe a fake sand eel lure ... good luck sea bass is a beautiful fish

  3. Live shrimp, dead shrimp, mullet, spoons, you name it... pretty much if it moves and passes in front of a seatrout in my area, it's on, but shrimp big time.

  4. Specks take live and dead shrimp fairly readily - people often fish a live shrimp under a popping cork down here with good results. I have always opted for a treble hook when fishing for specks with shrimp, so I can get a good firm set and not worry so much about him throwing the hook or his mouth ripping through (speckled sea trout are notoriously delicate around the mouth). I sometimes use DOA shrimp rather than live shrimp, though results with the live shrimp always seem just a little better.

Another popular way to go is with the trout jig. You can buy these premade at most decent tackle shops. The two-lure setup helps to hedge your bets a little, and you won't deal with as many bait-snatching rats throughout the day if you go this route. I don't opt to fish these very often, if only because shrimp are so readily available around my spots. People also sometimes use a small spinner in the surf, but again - live shrimp, popping cork...works like a charm.

  5. For sea trout you can use the same tackle that is used for the northern weakfish: a light salt-water spinning rod and reel, a bait-casting rod and reel or a fly-fishing outfit. Anglers in the Gulf of Mexico, especially off Texas, use the "pop-ping"-type bait-casting rod with reel to match. On the other hand, most Florida anglers prefer the light salt-water spinning rod and reel. This is usually filled with 8- or l0-lb.-test monofilament line and can be used to cast lures or bait.

One of the best ways to catch sea trout is to wade the flats or shallow waters of rivers, inlets and tidal creeks and cast lures. This is often done in the Indian River in Florida and in other shallow waters in that state. The best lures for this type of fishing are usually surface plugs such as poppers, wounded minnows and torpedo types. These surface lures are usually worked fairly fast with plenty of noise, splash and commotion. On many occasions, you can also use underwater plugs, jigs and spoons. These are most productive at daybreak, dusk or during the night. Surface plugs on the other hand work best when the water is fairly calm and there isn't too strong a wind. On rough, windy days when the water is roiled the fishing is often poor. Likewise, a cold snap which is severe and long-lasting may send the sea trout to deeper water and holes.

  6. In the U.K I would use something along the lines of a Mepps  or a small flying C or ABU Toby,or more traditionally try fly fishing there are many flies that take Sea Trout , Peter Ross, Teal and  Silver , Invicta to name a few best fished for at night.

  7. Sea trout can be great on light spinning tackle, use light salt water spinning tackle with 8 to 14 pound line. Best lures for morning are top waters or lures that are close to the surface, the best lures i think are MirrO lure's, "She Dog".  In mid-day when it's brighter, soft plastic jerk baits with light jig head work great, a local favorite is chartreuse. You can also get fish such as red fish and snook using these lures, and there's always a jack that will come along and make you think you got a big something =P.

As far as choosing a live bait, let that body of water tell you that, get a sadik rig and catch the bait fish that's is their at the time, you would not want to using a live mullet in the greenie run.
