Lots of bat species live in the forest. Both the fruit-eating bats and the insectivorous bats. One survey in the lowland forest of Papua recorded 11 bat species (Dobsonia spp, Syconycteris sp, Nyctimene sp, , Macroglossus spp, Paranyctimene sp., Pteropus sp., Hipposideros sp., Nyctophilus sp, and Saccolaimus sp.). Another on-going survey in Sumatra recorded more than 15 species of bats. Those are only from two small areas of the Indonesian rain forest. There are many more species from rain forests around the world.
