  1. There are so many and then they're as individual as people.  I've discovered the best thing is to go someplace where you can actually see or better yet handle them.  That's the truest way to find out.

    Personally I like the ones who are alert and curious about me, the buttons on my clothes, glasses, etc.  Among those the ones who are the most gentle are the nicest (you better believe they're smart enough to know what hurts).

    Cockatoos are my favorite but are definitely not good for a "first-time" bird. They can be more affectionate than a cat but also the most emotional and need lots of attention.

  2. I agree with cloudyda..... they all have their own personalities.

    My blue and gold macaw, hates my hubby, but loves the kids.

    Ha ha, and he's the one that wanted to get her. So my answer to you is, you take a chance if the bird will bond with you

  3. There is never a proper answer to this question, as all different parrots have their own different personalities depending on how they were raised etc.

    If you plan on getting one, do not get it from a chain store get it from a breeder. Things to remember about bigger birds:

    *Some can live for 100 years.

    *They are messy

    *They scream

    * THEY BITE very hard

    * They can be very hormonal

    I would only suggest getting a big bird if you know you have the time for them otherwise it may result in plucking... see here  ( www.2ndchance.info/selfpluck.htm )

  4. I personally think Congo Afgican Greys

  5. Parrots, like people, each have their own personality. So, it's hard to answer which type is the nicest. Some birds are meaner than others, some nicer, some more quiet, some more loud, etc., just because that's their personality...it doesn't matter what type they are.  :)
