I currently ride a cheap Wal-Mart BMX bike that is a few years old.

Its pretty decent but it is starting to rust and isnt exactly comfortable for the 5 or so miles I ride to high school every morning and evening

I only bought it cause it was the cheapest thing they had and I reeeaaaaallllllllllyyyyyyyy needed a bicycle. Now I finally saved enough for something good.

  1. have a look at giant bikes. They have a wide range in all riding. I don't really know if you do other types of riding such as jumping but a giant bike has gears, suspension and are well made.

I don't know as much about casual riding than jumping bikes.

  2. To use a bicycle to go to school or just ridin' around the town doesn' reqire those shiny expensive bicycles. Just visit a bike shop and look for decent bicycles. Ask the guys there for some help.

I use my bicycle to go to school, library, etc. and I ride a $150 MTB. Mountain bikes go fine on streets. You may also try Road Bikes or simply Comfort/Beach Cruiser Bikes.

    Hope I helped you.

  3. How much did you save ?

  4. Well how much is enough??? $300, $500, $1000?

Regardless of what you want to spend, anything but a BMX will do. For general purpose riding like you want a mountain bike would get you to school and be flexable enough for gravel and dirt roads. If you can find one without suspension all the better.
