So i got this bird as a baby about 3 weeks ago when it fell out of the nest. not too many feathers were on him except black fleathers so i assumed it was a crow cuz the tree it fell from had crows and a brownish type of bird. But now it has brownish feathers on its chest. I took these pix today, and its only about a month old. I know the pictures aren't the greatest but i took it with my phone.

Please do not lecture me on the whole wildlife thing, i already did what i could. Thanks!!

  1. It looks like a fledgling Robin that has been fed a poor diet and possible lacking exposure to sunlight.  It needs to go to a wildlife rehabilitator!  It looks like it has no energy and is in dire need of expert care to survive.

PS.  What diet or food has he been eating?

  2. Have you tried googling or Wikipedia..-ing

the types of birds that are common in your area?

    That usually works for me.

Youll get a list of some sort and be able to google image the names of birds to see which one that bird is.

  3. I can't tell you for sure but here is a site i use plus its just fun to look around.

  4. It does look like a type of crow :P

  5. you sure they were crows? it looks like a baby Raven to me, since it is quite large for a baby bird and it has a heavy beak

why I ought to... I am sticking to my guns on this one *LOL* Please take a pic of the bird in another week or two and post it.

here is the baby robin that I had this spring

  6. It looks to me like a Magpie chick.

Here's a few links to a few pictures of the bird I'm talking about:

And a picture of what the bird may look like as an adult:

If you think it is a magpie chick, you may want to do some research on their diet, housing needs, and behavior if you seriously intend to keep it:)

  7. Honestly,it looks like a Robin with a bad hair cut!! He may need more protein. What are you feeding him?

It's too small to be a crow, and crows are solid black.

LOL,I know that his feathers aren't finished coming in - I've raised quite a few Robins, but they look so funny when their feathers are like that!! Oh,and canned dog food and cooked eggs are great sources of protein for them.

Edit: His beak looks so big because he has no feathers on his face. He is way too small to be either a crow or a raven.Wanna fight, cat lady? LOL!! ;D

    Juvenile Raven:

    Juvenile,nestling and fledgling crows:

Hmm.. it is a mystery.Maybe you could post some clearer pics later? But the dog food and egg is a good food for most songbirds.

  8. That is a really good Question. I have never seen a bird like that befor. Its definatly not a crow though.

Keep looking though or ask a avian vet.

Mkae sure ya feed it well and goodluck

  9. please find a wildife rehabilitator in your area to care for the bird.  thank you.

  10. I'm not sure why all the thumbs downs - but it certainly looks like a young raven or crow to me.

Not that I would *ever* endorse such a thing... ... *winkwink*..

But do you plan on keeping it? Corvids are so ridiculously intelligent and goofy - they make great pets ;)

Helps that most people consider them pests; and honestly, corvids are much easier to raise and care for than generic songbirds.

He does not look unhealthy at all.

They'll eat virtually anything - but a good diet high in protein (also with fresh fruits and veggies) is best.

ps: www.birdsupplynh.com sells dried ants and ant larvae - perfect for food as he gets older; along with Quiko Goldy food for insect eaters/softbills

  11. Looks like a crow
