What type of butterfly is this ?

I think it might be a tiger swallowtail , but the ones that i looked up online have a lot less black on them and the wings are shaped differently . I'm just curious this was taken in Oregon .

well, i think you called it right, tiger swallow tail is what i've always called them, and so's my lovely and talented wife called them that.

what alt said most likely,

i love chasing butterflys and ducks and sunsets and all sorts of things, who cares what others think? - you if you decide to.

could it be the birdwing species....it looks quite similar to tat species

It looks like a Western Tiger Swallowtail, which is pretty common in your area.
