  1. documentaries are saposed to like real and rough not like a real movie, or show. so you really could use any camera. i sugjest a sony camcorder beause there easy to use and come in many different styles.

    There are some film cameras like those from Arri... it depends on the project, available funding, environment, lots of different factors.

    When they use camcorders, they are generally miniDV tape based or the media they use recorders to DV or HDV format (same that records to miniDV tape). They do not normally use insternal hard drive, flash memory (unless it is the Panasonic HDX200) or DVD based consumer camcorders. When they use a hard drive, it is externally connected - like those from Firestore.
