  1. Honda Fit

avoid Toyota Yaris, Chevy Aveo & Nissan Versa.

the chevy cavalier and Mit. Eclipse are not reliable

the G6 reliability is also below average.

    1. Honda Fit (base) - $15,785

    2. Mazda 3i Sport (sedan) - $17,205

    3. Hyundai Elantra SE - $17,945

if you can afford a new car, look for side curtain air bags, abs brakes and ESC stability control.

    used?

    Acura CL

    Ford Mustang V6

    Honda Accord or Civic

    Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder

    Subaru Impreza or Legacy

    Toyota Corolla or Echo

avoid used VW's or any Audi.

  2. the G6, Cavalier and the Eclipse are all highly unreliable, and have sluggish acceleration.

Are you buying new or used?

If your buying new, have you checked out the:

    Honda Civic

    Honda Fit

    VW Jetta

    Toyota Corolla

    Nissan Sentra

They are all midsized sedans that'll last you for quite some time. They're reliable, and pretty roomy.

If your buying used, it'll depend on where you live, and what you can find. Look at your local carmax and see whats avaliable.

    Used:

    Honda Civic/Accord

    Toyota Corolla/Echo

    Acura Integra/CL

    Nissan Sentra

    good luck!

  3. I like the sporty looks and great price of a mercury cougar anywhere from the years 1999 to 2003.

The interior and the exteriors are nice but I dunno how reliable the car is.  Should speak to an expert.

  4. I am in the same boat with you as well.  I won't make suggestions only b/c I am making my first car purchase as well, and I have my own personal favorites.  What you can do is research the cars that you do like, and how reliable they are.  Check edmunds.com to get Consumer Reviews.  That is what counts, forget the experts b/c they aren't dealing with the daily hassles of these vehicles.  Click the link for and example.
