What type of cat is this???

My wife brought home this cat from the animal shelter today because they said they were going to kill it. We aren't sure what it is, but it's ultra friendly. I couldn't find a picture that best matched what he looked like and I've been trying for hours. I didn't get the legs that well into the picture, but they are long and slender, like the rest of his body. I kind of want to say its a Manx but his nose and body type didn't seem to fit that well. Thanks for any help :D

  1. He's no particular breed - like over 97% of the cats on this planet.

This cat doesn't have a stump tail or no tail like a Manx.  Nor does he possess any of the other Manx characteristics.  The short, bent tail he has is quite common in cats that have been inbred - such as in feral colonies.  It's a birth defect.  This doesn't mean by any means that there's anything wrong with this cat - it's just got a funky shaped short tail.  I'll seen lots of cats like this in my 20 years volunteering with shelters.

Beautiful cat - and thank you for rescuing him!

  2. Could be a Manx.  I believe they are known for short or no tail.

  3. im not sure sorry but he's beautiful!! good luck

  8. He's probably a mix with a japanese bobtail.

  9. i have no idea but its sooooo cute!!

  10. does it really matter?

its affectionate & grateful that you took him in. Does the little joys that he brings to you & your wifey make his presence a comfort to your home?

It seems to me that your cat is a "happy cat". May he live long & give you both lots of loving companionship.

    cheers!!

  11. OMG!! I'm glad your wife took that cat! He is gorgeous!  I honestly think that is the prettiest cat I've ever seen.

  12. it looks like a siamese, but im not really an expert in that area

    its cute too =)

  13. whats wrong with cat?

  14. He looks like a siamese mix of some kind.

  15. Your cat looks like a cross between a Siamese and either a Manx or Bobtail. His body is too slender to be all Manx, and they have longer legs in the rear than in the front.

  16. mabye japanese bobtail mix with some siamese or domestic shorthair.. hope this helps :3

  17. Domestic shorthair. It's unlikely you would find any of the less common purebreds in a shelter.

A Manx cat has a very different body type. A Siamese cat has a light colored body with darker points at the ears, face, legs and tail. A Japanese bobtail has a different body type as well and the fur would be of a different texture.

  18. Don't know what kind... sort of looks like a "Tuxedo Cat" (except for the tail and the fact that the hair isn't really fluffy).

Beautiful baby though -- your wife did good!!  :)
