For a black cat with long hair to be a specific breed, not that colour and fur length makes a cat a particular breed, registered pedigree papers showing the parents, grand parents and great grand parents were all of the same breed is the only way a cat can be a pedigree cat.

There are several long haired and semi long haired breeds that come in solid black like the Persian, Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, Siberian Cat, Turkish Angora, Oriental Long Hair, Long haired Manx & Tiffanie but to name a few.

Several years ago, I gave a temporary home to a stray black Persian mix cat. He was absolutely gorgeous. I found out an old lady owned him who had to be taken to hospital for a few weeks. So, he came to live with us for a while until she came home. I called him Chester after the Cheshire cat from the Alice In Wonderland story.

So, a cat doesn't need a pedigree to be adorable :) Every cat is special in their own way.
