What type of cats do I have?

Both are Domestic Shorthairs.

The kitten is a common black and the other is a Tabby.

Your older cat is a tabby cat, not to sure about your kitten though.

Well the first one was a definite close up shot, but looks like a black Domestic Short Hair. The other was a DSH tabby. Both very cute.

Your older cat is called a tabby. The little one I'm not sure. But to me looks like maybe siamese.

the brown tiger is a american sort hair and so is the black one.THey are both very cute!! :)

Kitten - Could be a 'Black British Shorthair'.

Adult - Could be a 'Silver Tabby Shorthair'.
