I have a 200 gallon tank. Freshwater, and want to add some more cichlids. I like the looks of jewel and kenyi, the way they are shaped. What would you recommend in the same size and shape for added color to the tank. I was looking into flowerhorns, but don't like the look of their heads. LOLS. I am picky. I also have in the same tank a 13 inch pleco, a 9 inch pleco, (both common) and some loaches. I prefer bright, vibrant colors, and have found cichlids to be the best way to get this in freshwater. I do not like guppies, so don't suggest that, they would be a snack to my ciclids anyway. LOLS.

  1. Well other then the pleco's you mentioned, do you have anything else in the tank?  There are a whole assortment of Africans I keep and breed you might like, but I'd need to know what all you have in the tank now.  Vibrant colors is a good idea, but anything specific?  I mean like if I say a Red Empress or Taiwan Reef Hap type, you maybe don't think the red they display is vibrant, you know?

I also think Flowerhorns are just plain hideous myself, so no worries there.

  2. yeah african cichlids really are one of the most beautiful fish you can get
