  1. Ask your eye doctor. Each person's preference is different, so they require different types of contacts, and your doctor knows what you need. Ask for the ones that let in the most oxygen, which is the healthiest for your eyes. Don't worry about looks when it comes to your eyes. Eyesight is a serious matter, so avoid color contacts. They don't allow enough oxygen for your eyes, so it can cause bleeding in your veins and a lot of pain.

If you have astigmatism, or "football-shaped" eyeballs where they aren't a perfect sphere, make sure your contacts accomodate that.

There are also hard and soft lenses, with varying stiffnesses in between.  I have soft lenses that are more stiff than normal, because the regular soft lenses caused my vision to get worse dramatically and rapidly. That may not be the cause for you!

Like I said, it depends so ask your doctor.

  2. Acuvue Oasys with hydraclear Plus. They work brilliantly! I've used them for about 2 years and I've never had a problem. Plus they keep you're eyes from getting dry which is great for me because I have allergies. Also they have never teared.

  3. the day & night are great, and i've tried the colored but they're thinker and dont breathe well, and when you blink the contact moves and the color goes down into the vision line a they are rough, you can constantly feel them in your eye, if your eye gets dry they feel like sand paper, so if your eyes are perfect your just getting contacts because of the color the dont its not worth it.

but if your eyes do NEED contact you should ask for the soft day & night from CIBA Vision Corporation, you wear them for 30 day & 30 nights then throw them away, that simple.

i've had contacts since i was 9 and ive tried a different kinds but the day & night are truly the best!

  4. You need to speak to your optician as he'll be able to give you the right ones for your eyes.  I always thought 13 was too young because you're still growing so your prescription changes faster.  But then, things might have changed!

Soft contact lenses (monthly/daily disposable) are the most common now as they do away with a lot of the cleaning palarver!  That said, they can tear easily which makes them uncomfortable.  You also have to buy new ones frequently (depending on how often you throw them away and start on a new pair) which can get expensive.  You also need to buy cleaning/soaking solutions for them as well.

I wear gas permeable contact lenses which are smaller and hard.  I was originally given them to slow down my sight deterioration hence the reason you need to speak to your optician!  If your eyesight gets worse frequently you might be better off with them.  Some people say they're not as comfortable as soft lenses (I've never had a problem though) and I've never, ever broken one which is the disadvantage of soft lenses.  I've also had the same pair for a few years now so once you've paid for them once you don't have to pay for any more until they need replacing after 4 or 5 years.

You really need to get them through an optician though.  Eye infections can be common with them if you're not shown how to look after them properly and if they don't fit you or are the wrong prescription you will be in for one giant headache (literally and metaphorically)!  Please, please don't buy them from somewhere without a consultation.
