My plaster ceiling is sagging and has numerous cracks. First what type of person can tell me why it happened. Second what type of person can repair it? Third, what would the approximate cost be? (I am not handy.)

  1. when you are talking to potential contractors be specific. a plaster ceiling is not the same as sheetrock tape&float ceiling. always ask for and get references. a photo or two of prior projects is very helpful

  2. I would call a drywaller, unfortunately I have no idea what they charge, I'm an electrician.

  3. Sheet rock guys would be able t do the trick.  Plaster ceilings become brittle over years.  Any moisture would cause the sagging.  Also banging with hammer or other can cause damage to plaster.  We had the windows replaced in my old house and one of the ceilings collapsed while the installer was banging on the window in the room

    Good Luck

  4. A good reputable ceiling fixer will give you a quote on replacing and re-plastering on the phone if you measure and give him the ceiling dimensions. Have a great day.
