  1. i was put on it for depression but also for a bit of anxiety.

  2. There are many types of depression, most likely you are being treated for major depression, the most common. Your med is used to treat most listed below but probably should not be used for the depression found in most bipolar disorders, usually called atypical depression. Everyone is different, sometimes a Dr will give you a med like yours with a mood stabilizer, like lithium or depakote to prevent the possible mania that can be activated by the antidepressant if you have bipolar disorder.

    Other types of depression are:

Atypical depression--actually not all that uncommon

    Cyclothymic Disorder

    Dysthymic Disorder

    Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

    Postpartum Depression

    Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

    Substance-Induced Mood Disorder

Depression caused by a medical disorder, example thyroid disease

Hope you feel better soon, keep taking your meds, stopping can cause a relapse.

  3. It would be given for depression where there is an element of anxiety.

  4. Although doctors go to lengths to identify what "type" of depression you have, that is just a guide to how to work things out for yourself.

The drugs used are used across the board - so the answer is all types!

  5. mild depression, took it a few years ago cause i couldn't stop crying, god only knows why!

  6. depression or anxiety

  7. Panic attacks and anxiety - I've even read that it is used to treat people who can't stop shopping using their credit cards!

  8. My consultant told me it's the most commonly used anti-depressant in Europe so I'm guessing for a wide range of things.

I'm currently taking it.  They seem to think it'd help with me recovering from my eating disorder.

  9. I don't think there are many types of depression.  Just reactive depression or clinical depression.  I think the type of tablet given is based on the doctor's medication of choice and any other tablets or illnesses you may have.
