  1. THERE ARE 4 TYPES OF DIABETES. TYPE 1, TYPE 2, GESTATIONAL AND  JUVENILE. JUST TYPE ANY OF THOSE INTO YOUR WEB BROWSER AND YOU CAN FIND ALL KINDS OF SITE WITH INFORMATION.

  2. All Types need to check their blood sugars, and their ketones too that's a urine test. But diabetics are not just limited to finger pricks anymore they can use the forearm too. I don't because I'm so used to using my fingers after 40 years.

Try davita.com for lots of information and a short "lesson" in end stage renal failure following diabetes

    Good Luck with your paper.

  3. finger prick is to check the blood sugar. Its done in both

  4. There are THREE types of diabetes:

Type 1 (also called Juvenile Diabetes).  This happens when your pancreas (an internal organ) fails completely.  This usually happens when you're a child. There is no cure for Type 1 Diabetes.  This type of diabetic MUST HAVE insulin shots every day for the rest of their life.

[As a note: There are NO "insulin pills".  At this time the ONLY way to get insulin is by injection.]

Type 2 (also called Adult Onset Diabetes).  This happens when your pancreas partially fails.  This is caused by both age and being over weight.  There is no cure for Type 2 Diabetes.  This type of diabetic can often get by by watching their diet, getting more exercise, and losing weight, but usually, after 7-10 years, Type 2 Diabetics also require insulin shots.

Temporarary Diabetes. This occurs because something else caused it, and it usually goes away.  Gestational Diabetes occurs in women who are pregnant (becasue they gain weight).  It will usually go away after they deliver their baby. Traumatic Diabetes occur after an accident or surgery -- a trauma.  This will usually go away as your body heals.

ALL THREE TYPES require "finger sticks".  The Finger Stick Blood Glucose Level Test is how the diabetic knows that he or she is "doing OK".  Most diabetics do this 3-4 times  a day, usually just before eating.  The reading can tell them what and how much to eat, and also how much insulin they need.

The idea is to keep your Blood Glucose Level (blood sugar) close to normal as much as possible.  "Normal" is between 80 and 120 (between 5 and 6, European readings).  So measure 3-4 times s day!

    Best website around!

    http://www.diabetes.org

This is the American Diabetes Association.  If THEY don't know about, it, it isn't important!

  5. All kinds of diabetes require us to test our blood glucose with a finger prick.  Type 1's have to check more frequently because our blood glucose is more erratic, ideally 4-8 times per day, whereas Type 2's are usually recommended to test 1-4 times per day.

  6. Both.

Pricking your finger allows a drop of blood to go on the meter. This will give you your blood glucose level. Whether you are type I or type II diabetic, you have to know your blood sugar levels.

    Try these, both are credible.

diabetes.org (the American Association of Diabetics site)

    http://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/diabetes (the CDC government site)

  7. There is only two types of diabetes, juvie diabetes is type 1, and gestational is type 2.  Im type 1

  8. both im sure
