What type of dirt bike should i get to learn on?

Hey i want start riding and havent got really any expe- im 16 and 5,9, i do dh mountain biking so im fit. i have been told to get a honda xr100 or go for thumpstar.

  1. you should get a honda crf 230 they are good starter bikes and wont brake on u look at them on honda.com


  2. The XR100 and the Thumpstar would be really small for you unless you just want to do pit bike racing or something. If you are looking at new bikes the Honda CRF230F would be the perfect size and power to learn on. If you are looking for an older bike the XR200 would work also. You really want to learn on a 4 stroke so don't let anyone talk you into a 125 2 stroke.

  3. I say you should get a used xr100 in decent shape and practice using the clutch, shifting, braking, etc. Then get a race bike if thats what you want to pursue or keep it if you just play ride.

  4. your too old to start racing ... sorry but they start racing at 2 or 3 yrs of age . you will never be able to keep up with them. so it really doesn't matter what you get to ride and have fun on.
