  1. most dvd's are either +r or -r

there are a couple of variations including dual layer.

single layer (dvd5) stores 4.7 gb and around 2 hours video depending on encoding.

dual layer (dvd9) has around 9 gb which can double the time (and more)

bluray is the next step and again it'll be single and dual layer. it'll be 25gb and 50gb! BUT, because HD has a bigger data rate it'll probably have similar time frames.

you'll also need a dvd burner. most internal ones are very cheap. get it installed professionally if you don't know what you're doing and make sure the drivers are working.

  2. depends on type of burner - dvd or cd

  3. With cdr u can burn svcd(30 minutes) if u dont have a dvd burner and have only cd burner. If u have a dvd burner buy dvd-r or dvd+r disks. svcd is of lesser quality than a dvd. We use to burn svcd on cdr few years back when dvd burners were expensive. u can buy dvd-r or dvd+r from everywhere. Supermarkets even.

  4. you simply need recordable DVDs. either +R or -R format will do. easily found at wal-mart and even little drugstores!
