What type of doctor should I be?

Question

For as long as i can remember I have wanted to be a surgeon. I am going to be a sophomore in high school and I know it's a little early to be thinking about it and I might not know until med school, but I still would like help. I really want to help teens so my first choice is adolescent medicine. If someone can tell me a little about that field that would help. Also, what other types would really help teens, definitely work in a hospital, possibly do surgery, but still allow for me to have a family and not LIVE in the hospital. Advice from doctors would be wonderful. Thank you.

I am not a doctor as you will gather through my question but:

I think you should become a GP- because they just sit back and talk with- no operations, no blood. They just advise you about what is the best.

I think that becoming a doctor is good, I want to become one too, its my dream.  Having studied so much passing exams and etc.... I think you deserve a pat on the back. Good luck to you.

You could be a pediatrician. Pediatrician can help babies and teen until they become 18.  After you graduate from medicine school, I think you have to be an internist and work for a year in the hospital that doesn't mean you have to live in the hospital all your life, then you can get married and have your own house and family.   It's wonderful that you think about being a doctor, you help other plus you can find a job any place in the world.  God bless you, follows your dreams.  Ga

I'm studying to become a doctor right now, and in 1 and a half years I'll be on top of the world.

I can't tell you what you should major in, thats up to you.

But if it counts for anything, I'm aspiring to become a surgeon also.

i am not a doctor, but i think you should definitely go for it with all of your might.  most meds for teens are the same ones for adults, as far as i know, just in different doses.  it goes from choosing to be in pediatrics or adults, i think.  perhaps you could be the first teen only doctor.  good luck and blessings to you

If I was you , I will never decide what specialty you want to do until  you become a medical student and you study medicine
