What type of documentation do I need for traveling on a cruise to alaska with minor grandchildren?

We are taking a cruise that docks in Canada.

You should have a letter from the parents giving you permission to take the children out of the U.S.  It needs to be signed  by both parents and notarized. Sounds like a fantastic trip!

Passports are not needed for the cruise unless the cruise comany requires them so it is best to ask them.

You will need a passport for each grandchild, and a notarized letter from their parents stating that it is ok to bring them out of the country. If the parents are divorced or are unavailable to have them sign the same letter, it is ok to have two notarized letters, but you must have both signatures. I have taken my son't friends with us on a couple of cruises before and that is what they require. If they are old enough to have a drivers license, you would want them to bring that as well, that way they would not have to bring their passports off the ship on excursions. I have never been to Canada or Alaska, so I do not know what their requirements are. Sounds like you are going to have a great time.
