What type of dress do i wear to a military police battalion ball??

my husbands military police battalion is holding a ball. Dress is formal with soldiers in dress blue or green and female soldiers can wear evening gows. Is knee length dress appropriate?

No. Dress balls are usually very formal and ladies should wear ball gowns. I bought my daughter gowns for the Marine ball, long before her prom. Her boyfriend's father even carried a saber. She would have been mortified in a cocktail dress.

I don't know where you live, in Texas, the ladies wear ball gowns.

I'd rather be elegant, befitting the dress uniforms and full ribbon boards the guys have to wear, considering how long it takes them to get dressed. I can be black-tie in 30 minutes. Those guys have make sure every little pin, is just right.

You should not wear a knee length dress, a ball gown (full length) is much more appropriate.  Chose a dress that is formal and that flatters your figure, but DO NOT chose something that is overly revealing or makes you look like a stripper.  You may see women in all sorts of attire, but you should be dressed like lady (and so should they).

No!  If it's a ball, you wear a ball gown.  To be perfect you'd have a long dress with a larger skirt (a ball gown) and gloves.  You could get away with a long to-the-floor formal/evening gown.  These events are so dressy and so formal, you may want to wear gloves if you have a dress with bare arms or bare shoulders.  

Cocktail attire is *not* appropriate in this case--don't embarrass your spouse, who's going to look like a million dollars!  Be sure to bring your camera, although there will probably be a photographer there.

Not if your husband is in his Dress Blues. You should wear a formal gown to match. You should really think formal as what you wear will leave an impression on your husbands commander. If you dress inappropriately, it reflects poorly on him. Ask some of the other wives what they are wearing to get an idea.
