What type of drug test is used for the medical when becoming an airline pilot?

Im thinking of becomeing an airline pilot and ive been smoking weed a bit latlely how long would i need to be off the stuff to pass the medical if you no what type of test it is please let me know

It's a urine test and if you test "positive", there go your chances at an airline career. You might be able to turn in a "negative" result in 4-6 weeks, but to be safe you should probably wait a minimum of 6 months. If you can't give up smoking from now thru the rest of your working life, find a different career.

Uhm, how about don't become a pilot.  I don't have anything against people who smoke pot, but I wouldn't want my airline pilot to have just smoke a big fatty b4 we took off. h**l no.  Find a different profession, like working in a head shop or something.  Nothing that would be a service for the public which would call for your full attention.

I was a flight attendant for 20 years and underwent the exact testing as pilots.  Yes, you will be tested for marijuana and I have heard that it can stay in your system for up to three months.  Most of us wouldn't even take cold medication while on duty for fear of a false positive.  Quit the pot, or look for another career please.

If you choose to smoke that stuff your surely  do not have the capability to make the right life choices. You are not responsible  enough to be in charge of an airplane full of passengers whose  life's depend on  the pilot making the right choices, You have demonstrated that you are not able to do this.

Flying is NOT for drug abusers, no matter how casual.

Don't listen to the people saying you shouldn't be a pilot, they don't know s***!!! Just stay off the weed from now on if your serious about becoming a pilot!!! Takes anywhere up 2 3 months depends on your metabolism and how much you exercise. Hope it goes well man!!!
