  1. Use marine wire> As it tined copper silver in color> Liquid tape on connections or heat shrink connectors>

  2. you need to use stranded...not solid.....tinned copper wire.......and I'll save you a lot of time by recommending Anchor brand wire and fittings......most chandlers carry Anchor and everything they make is WONDERFUL stuff. Their web site has lots of good information on color code, wire size, battery cables and all that

and as was said, slobber Liquid Electrical Tape on all crimp connections...

  3. for marine use boat cable is used boat cable has white plastic  cover  and  color covering  inside  black white red green etc  wire is tinned  and looks like alum  but is not  use  shrink type terminals  and  acoating  over exposed  screws  etc  all  of this stuff is available from marine stores  and comes in different  sizes   and  numbers   like  regulor  wire   10 ga bigger than  12 ga etc

  4. HI, if you are refering to the battery cables you need to use #1 gauge for the best results. Available at any marine or automotive parts store's, good luck

  5. 1 guage wire , use heat shrink tubing on the ends it will give it more life

  6. Wiring standards for boats are laid out by ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council).  All wire must be TINNED copper, stranded wire.  Heat shrink tubing or connectors are mandatory.  Wire nuts are forbidden.  Ancor brand (proper spelling) is sold online and at most boating supply stores.  Please do not go to an automotive store for wire; it is neither stranded or tinned.  I realize there is a cost difference, that is one of the joys of boat ownership.  Remember that there is a color code for wire on vessels as well.  Red for positive from battery to switch and distribution panel.  Purple for ignition.  Light blue for cabin lights.  gray or dark blue for navigation lights. There is a new standard (1997) where 12 volt negative is no longer black, it is yellow.  The reason I am telling you about the colors is that it helps diagnosing a problem later on and it keeps confusion to a minimum.  I once had to rewire a 35 trimaran that the former owner had wired completely in RED.  It was a nightmare.  I hope this answers your question.

  7. have you tried using Liquid tape on the connections?  You can get it at most hardware stores in many different colors.. It will seal the connections completely, not letting any air or water get to them which is the best way to keep them from corroding..
