I'm thinking of going for BA's graduate programme - but what are they like as an employer.

In light of that recent case with the woman demanding to wear her cross outside her uniform - i think they handled it incredibly sensitive and caring?

So - would you work for them BUT why?...

  1. British Airways are terrible employers. I worked for them for five years, full time permanent staff. I worked in Revenue Accounts, when this was at Odyssey Business Park in Ruislip Middx. The main problem is that no matter how hard you work, or how much you produce, they WILL NOT VALUE YOU! About the best I can say for them is that they pay reasonably well, and their offices are lovely. BA is not a meritocracy, the managers are mostly aggressive, rude so-and-so's, although to be honest, there are one or two nice managers. They do not promote on ability, they promote on whether a person is politically suitable. By "politically suitable" I do not mean Conservative, Labour or whatever, I mean whether your face fits. If it does not, no matter how much you have produced or no matter how good your work is, they will never promote you.

I got fired from BA without a disciplinary hearing and without representation, although to be honest they gave me five weeks' pay when they fired me. They are a brutal, ruthless company. Unfortunately there is this idea that they are a great employer. Trust me, it is a MYTH! I am trying to spread the word about this myth. Thank you.
