What type of exercises are helpful to volleyball players?

I am a tall volleyball player, and I am wondering what exercises would be helpful.

  1. Push ups and sit ups are great basic exercises for a volleyball player.  volleyball uses a lot of upper body strength and push ups are great to increase upper body strength.  sit up or crunches are a must for volleyball players.  You don't realize how much of your core you use while playing volleyball.  You need strong abs to improve in all aspects of volleyball.  As you get stronger and willing to invest more time and money into your strength training you can go to gym and get specialized and individual work outs to help you get stronger and more flexible.


  2. To get a higher jump when blocking or spiking, try doing jump squats for 10 min. a day. For leg strength and arm strength, try doing water aerobics. They really work!

  3. I m tall too!

  4. Yoga and pilates.

    It will increase flexibility, while keeping you strong, with out the bulking up of weight lifting.

  5. Plyometrics and sprints are good 4 vball players

    lift weights with your legs but you also need to jump rope

    vball players need to be strong but they also need to release thier strength quickly (jumping and quick low movements)
