  1. EOP is a school aid. I'm in the EOP program and I get some money every year for tuition.

  2. The Education Opportunity Program in New York offers supplemental financial assistance to students who are accepted into a college or university through the program. Basically, the EOP covers educational expenses that are not fully covered by other forms of financial aid, including Pell Grants, FSEOG Grants, Work-Study, and Perkins and Stafford loans. EOP funds are need-based, and like other forms of grants, the student is not expected to repay this type of aid. EOP money is generally earmarked for books, and room and board.

As I think you probably know, the aid supplement activities are a small part of the entire EOP program. EOP students also receive a pre-Freshman summer instructional program, extensive guidance and free, unlimited tutoring throughout college.

The program has extensive application qualifications for grades and family finances - you should definitely work closely with a school adviser to ensure that you receive full consideration for the program.

Good luck to you - I hope that helped.

P.S. I've attached a link to information about the EOP program at one NY university - the information here pretty much applies to all of the schools in New York, and I thought it gave a nice, clear explanation of the program.
