What type of flowers are best for a garden?

my husband has been working on our backyard - he put a fence up, he's putting new grass and now he's working on the patio but he wants me to pick out the flowers for our yard and plant them!!!! I don't know anything that has to do with gardening! I really need help!!!! how to start? what to do?

We need to know a little bit about the site....................what part of the world do you live in?  is the area sunny? shady? wet? dry?  Do you want plants that come up every year?  Do you need shrubs too? Or is this strictly a flower garden?   A little bit more information will result in more helpful suggestions for you.

Love in a Mist, peony, Snow in Summer, snapdragon and Bleeding Heart are very pretty garden flowers and quite easy to grow. :-)

Calla lilies, canna lillies, jazmines, roses, go to the website in the bottom, I order plants from there, and they have all kinds of plant picks
