  1. I have heard they eat cat food, since they are very similar to cats in thery anatomy and natural food choices (they eat small mammals such as mice, insects and little lizards)

  2. ferret food the breeders provide their own brands and will not honor warranties if you do not feed their foods.

  3. I feed my ferrets a mixture of several high-quality kitten/cat/ferret foods. This is to prevent them from getting to picky about what brand of food they will eat. I also give them Ferretone as a treat and every so often I give them a little meat: chicken, hot dog, bologna, steak, etc. They generally like fruit as a treat, but as they cannot digest fruit/vegetables, it is only an occasional treat. Go read the Ferret FAQ when you have a chance: http://www.ferretcentral.org/faq/

  4. The best way I can describe ferret food from the store is like high-protein cat food.  Marshall ferret food isnt very good, but I feed it to my ferret because he wont eat anything else and I dont want him to starve because he is underweight.  He is so picky!

But anyway...... some people feed their ferrets raw meat.  I guess its a personal choice to do that or not.  Im not very familiar with the benifits but I think a good quality dry food will keep a littly guy/gal happy and healthy.

I am trying to force my ferret off the Marshall diet but when I mix his food with a new diet he wont eat.  Feel free to help me if anyone knows what I should do.
