  1. Better to take dry fruits and fresh fruits which wound perish easily along with caned juice.


  2. I always bring raw almonds, Lara Bars, water, veggie chili, apples, oranges and a buttload of booze.

  3. Beans and weenies (soy dogs are good) if you're making a fire.

  4. Lentils and dried split peas cook relatively quickly and don't require soaking--they take about the same amount of time as brown rice, so you can mix together with some seasonings  and perhaps some dehydrated veggies or canned tomatoes & have a full dinner.

    Also, try falafel mix & pita pockets; canned refried beans, cheese, chili seasoning, salsa, & tortillas or chips for quick nachos (just wrap in foil & set over fire for a little).

    nuts, seeds, dried fruit & extras (M&Ms, granola) make a tasty snack mix that has plenty of protein.

    If you're camping & not packing, you may want to bring some vegetarian burgers or tofu dogs  & canned veggie baked beans for a cookout.  Try a cast iron dutch oven dish by doctoring up some canned black beans or pintos and topping with a cornbread mix (according to package directions) & set on hot coals for 20 minutes or so.

    Cheese and eggs do pretty well in an ice chest.

    There are lots of meals that you can adapt for camping.  Just look for complete proteins, veggies that store well, like carrots, cabbage & sweet potatoes, and pack a few treats - s'mores with kosher marshmallows (made with agar seaweed instead of gelatin); make banana boats (split bananas in skin thru halfway, then stuff with nuts, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, dash of cinnamon -- whatever you want, wrap in foil & bake on coals for 10-15 minutes).  Enjoy!

    easy to pack and easy-to-eat-without-cooking veggie meals or foods seems the obvious coice.. trail mix, dried fruits, canned veggies etc... depending on how long the trip is, packing fresh veggies is very impractical.. they are generally bulky, spoil easily and get crushed etc..

    if there are proper facilites such as a bbq pit etc, then you can bring some easy to cook stuff, maybe some mock meats if you eat those things

  7. Bring anything that requires little or no preparation and is filling,  preferably something that can be stored or eaten at room temperature.

    Nuts / raisins / chocolate / potato chips / fruit / veggies / crackers / bread / drinks / peanut butter and jelly / cereal and soy milk

    If this is a longer trip and you have a camping stove or plan to cook over a fire, you can add potatoes and other grilling vegetables, cans of vegetarian soup, or prepackaged pasta and noodle dishes.
