What type of food to expect in Bulgaria?

Hello everyone, I will appreciate if someone can shed some light on what type of food to expect in Bulgaria? I will soon be travelling around Bulgaria for a months or so. I've never been to Bulgaria before, so I don't have the slightest idea what to expect... My internet research did not produce much.

It will be nice to hear recommendations either about particular dishes or gourmet places to visit.

Many types of food, first is their traditional which will be nice to try it (it's as almost every Balkan cuisine influensed by the turkish/arabic cuisine) Italian Food is very popular, there are many Chinese restaurants there... so it's up to you, you do have a choise

Well i went to Sunny Beach in Bulgaria last year and the food there was lovely! Many places did chicken skewers and they were very popualr. They also had the usual dishes such as burgers, steak, fish, etc. But these were restaurants situated in an area with lots of tourists. If you are travelling around Bulgaria then you may come across more local food, but you will probably find things like burgers and all anyway. But if the only option for food are local dishes then don't worry because i am sure their food is very nice. My parents ate local dishes last year when we were on holiday and they couldn't praise them enough!
