Question:

What type of foundation primer should I use for my oily skin prior to applying Bare Minerals?

Hi! I'm thinking about using Bare Minerals, but my skin tends to get oily and it makes my foundation/powder run or fade. So I've found a few primers that claim to control the oil on my face.

Would it be best if I purchased the BareMinerals primer just because its from the same line?

Or does it not matter? Because I was thinking of purchasing these maybe

  1. I have tried many and my personal favourites are Philosophy's  Poreless Flawless and also Smashbox photofinish.  Avail at QVC

  2. Stay away from Smashbox's Primer.  I bought it b/c I saw a claim where they said its PERFECT for oily skin... it's not.. when you first apply it it does give your skin a matte look - but once you apply your mineral makeup (which I use as well) it doesnt work right.  Smashbox is best if you plan to not use any makeup over it.

  3. As a professional makeup artist for over 20 years I highly recommend using bee luscious cosmetics liquid minerals and pore perfecting primer! its much better product and quality.

The problem with Bare Minerals is the high bismuth content that clogs pores and creates break outs.

  4. I have and love the Bare Minerals prime time, just stick with that.  I haven't used the others but have heard bad things about the philosophy one. To help with your oily skin, do what I did, apply a thin layer of mineral veil after the primer before foundation.  The after foundation, apply it again.  This keeps it on longer and helps control oil.  Also if you can get one or already have it, use a denser brush for the mineral veil (most people use flawless application but I find the full flawless application to be better for oily skin).  It will deposit more to control oil.

  5. it really doesnt matter you can mix brands, but i would say go with the bare minerals because there products seem to be really good quality.

  6. I use Prime Time. I am older but my nose is oily. I find I get much better coverage when I use Prime Time first then put on Bare Minerals.
