What type of gas do I need to use for my Scion tC?

I have a 2009 Scion tC and was curious on what type of gas I need to buy. Is the cheapest grade okay or do I need to use premium? I don't really know what the difference is between the grades anyway.

Toyota recommends 87 grade.  Using lower octane may lead to detonation.  Higher octane fuels are a waste of your money.

It's one of the beauties of the tC, it's a good looking car and still only requires 87 octane, so a low price car with cheap(est) gas, good deal!

  Don't believe me, check the owners manual.

  The only time you would need a higher octane fuel would be if a turbo was installed...I think, I may be wrong on that last point.

For your Scion TC regular grade gasoline will work just fine. Some believe that you get better gas mileage with premium-- NOT TRUE!!

FYI: Premium and Super Premium grades are for high-powered performance engines such as Corvette, Mercedes, etc.
