What type of gas does a mustang take? and is it good on gas?

Im looking at a 2000 moddel and want to know how good it will be on gas and what type of fuel

i have two mustangs 2002 and 2007 and both of them are on regular 87 octane and they give 17/25 MPG city/highway  but i recommend to you not to buy one these cars in these days go for a small car but if you have made your mind to get the mustang I WILL RECOMMEND YOU TO INSTALL THE VORTEC CYCLONE i use that product on both of my cars and it imorves my gas mileage to 22/29 MPG city/highway i'm not kidding just drive normal at about 2100 rpm thats where the car gets most fuel efficient

All mustangs, V6 or 8, are tuned from the factory to run on 87 octane. I get about 22 mpg when I keep the pedal of the floor on my mostly stock 95 gt.

Of course you add performance parts higher octane becomes necessary.

Is it a 4,6,8. 4,6 use  reg. 8 uses hi.Mileage depends on the condition of the car and the driivers road habits

i run regular without a problem, and i'm averaging around 26 MPG in a 97 V6. a V8 would be a little lower

ford makes their cars for the cheap gas...look in the owner manual it will tell you 87...they dont get good gas mileage..you are looking at 20 to 25 for everyday normal driving a few more miles if you are on the interstate...you can get a smaller car and get alot better gas mileage than that....

87 octane is all you need. It is better to run higher octane if you are racing or using forced induction because it reduces engine knock but for a regular street car like yours, just use 87 octane.

if you get a v8 honestly expect  

14-19mpg city

18-23 highway

if you get a v6

18-23mpg city

23-26 highway

and you can use 87 octane in the car unless you purchase a Cobra or specialty like a Roush or Saleen then you need to use 91+
