  1. super

  2. remember that the more  you pay, the more lead, the more lead in the gas, the more lubrication and the less wear.

  3. I would definitely read the owner's manual to find that out.  It probably indicates that you should use premium (92/93 octane).

The reason for this is that the compression within these high performance motorcycle engines is much higher than normal vehicles.  When the compression goes up, so does the possibility that the gasoline will ignite before it's supposed to.  Using higher octane fuel eliminates this possibility.

You could probably get by with regular unleaded, but why take the chance of shortening the life of your motor?

  4. With such stress as those motors get put under you really want to use gas of octane 93+, especially if you ride it hard and want the most power out of it.

It is true that in cars if the car doesn't require premium, then it does you no good to put premium in - they do this because the motors that need premium will start to knock and valves will click.

Motorcycles really need to run octane thats high. I have an R6 and put nothing but 93+ octane in it. Besides, it's no more than 4 gallons of gas, so you are still saving a ton compared to a car!

  5. reqular gas is fine, that's what I put in my 05' 250, but to play it safe read the manual

  6. For any vehicle, you always use the lowest octane possible, or whatever is specified in the owner's manual.  If in question, use the lowest octane gasoline and graduate up as necessary to achieve the best performance.  Bear in mind, higher octane does not mean higher quality or more power for most vehicles; but, for some, it does.  The higher octane merely makes the fuel harder to ignite, thus allowing higher compression ratios and supposedly more performance, but at a cost.

  7. I have a 2007 ninja 650r.... regular gas is straight...but i think my bike runs better on super....its up to you

  8. RUN MID-GRADE AND YOU WILL BE JUST FINE.

  9. "High octane fuel burns colder and slower than low octane fuel. Octane above what the motor is build for or tuned for is wasted. It won't hurt the motor but you may lose HP by running premium gas. The other side is if you run regular gas in a high performance motor you may do damage as the motor will run hot."

The USA model has carburetors, as opposed to the euro-model which is fuel injected.  Note that the US model produces more horse power.

That's important because MOST vehicles useing premium. are also capable of using LOWER grades, by backing of the advance at the first sign of a detonation (pinging).

But the US still uses carbs, and computers have a hard time controlling carbs.

Only BMWs specify super-unleaded, as far as I know.  In a BMW use premium, in a $3500 , motorcycle use regular-unleaded.

You'll get all the power and mileage that you paid for, using REGULAR unleaded.

  10. Regular, as I assume it says in the owner's manual.

mid or high is a WASTE OF MONEY, no better performance or mileage. Octane refers only to the ignition point from compressive heating, which is linked to predetonation in high-compression engines.

Better performance is only anecdotal evidence resulting from the placebo effect in people with limited knowledge of the actual chemical and thermodynamic processes.
