I'd like to buy a set of ladies golf clubs, but not sure what to buy, I'm a beginner. I find that I hit the ball really well with a shaft that has a lot of flex. Any advice?

  1. I started last summer. I bought prosimmons ladies irons. they were cheap enough and came with a free bag. they are really good for beginners. i got them off the internet and then i asked around ladies at the golf club if they had any old drivers or woods and i got a second hand driver 3 and 5 wood also a putter all for 60 quid i think it was. its worth only buyin a cheap set because u dont know what clubs u will like best until u get playing and then u will know what type u are best with then u could buy more expensive ones. hope this helps

  2. In which case then graphite will be easier. They are a lot lighter and whippier than steel so are easier to handle for women. They allow you to generate a lot more clubhead speed at point of impact which will naturally increase distance once you have control of your swing.

As a beginner I would concentrate on getting plenty of practise and a few lessons so taht you don't pick up some bad habits from those you play with regularily.

What you will find is that as you become more accomplished in the game you will want to revert to steel shafted clubs, for exactly the reasons mentioned, they do not flex as much and will allow you to be more accurate with your positional play, however for the time being I would say graphite would be your best bet. A few more woods in the bag will help, utility woods like a five, seven and nine wood which will allow you to play from the fairway. It will all depend on which course you play, as I find that I only use about half of my clubs when playing my home course. As there are not to many long holes I get away with 1,3,5 woods, 3,4,7,8,9,w,sw and putter. This will become appareant the more you play. Good luck

  3. There is no substitute for hitting the different clubs and then buying the ones that feel best to you.  If you have Golf Galaxy store near you they have simulators you can try all the different clubs in as well as a pro to help you with fitting .  Since you are new to the game standard length and lie clubs should be fine for you unless your arms are overly long or short for the rest of your body.

  4. Quite simply don't listen to anyone else who isn't pro trained and standing in front of you when there talking!

I'm sure everyone means well but all their gonna do is influence which clubs you buy and that in turn is gonna effect your game.

Walk into your local pro shop. Have no preconceptions. Explain what you have said here, any pro worth their salt will show you some clubs they have and narrow it down depending on how your hitting each club.

  5. Visit your local golf professional who will advise you of the type of clubs that will suit your size and pocket.

  6. The new Ping Rhapsody are getting some good buzz. The Ping custom fit process is excellent to fit your body style and play.

I would have a club fitter see what they can do for you.

  7. Hi

Ive worked in a golf shop so i know a lot about equipment for ladies, first of all you havent mentioned your age, but the generally rule for ladies is to buy clubs with a graphite shaft and a low kick point. The lower the kick point the higher the ball goes. I

I would recommend you buy from a proper golf shop and not buy from the sports stores such as JJB, which are often made of shocking material, if your serious about playing then I would get a full set of clubs, your set should consist of driver, 5 wood, 3 to 4 utility clubs, 7-lw and a putter.

If you go a proper golf shop they will offer you some good advice, but what ive told you gives you the basis for what to look for. Hope this helps and keep it in the short grass!

  8. practice from the hole backwards most important club right know is and will be your putter . it willbe used most often  so find the perfect one .. women have more flex in thier wrists than men so go eiyh graphite shafts . steel shafts will equal tunnel carpell syndrom . putiing first chipping second . yhen to the range start with your five wood off the tee . take out 3 4 irons replace 7 wood and enjoy lots of used womens clubs dirt cheap at golf clubs . used sporting goods stores . but putter most important  last choice e-bay to risky on condition  good luck
