What type of grasshopper is this?

Their is a grasshopper in my house eating dead bugs and just hanging out with me and my family. It's been here about a week. Well I never in my life seen one like this. Well it is green and has a red stripe down it's back. Well whats really freaking us out is it has red eyes and atennas are as long as a shrimp's whiskers. Really weird. Well what do you think do I have a new kind on my hands should I call someone and get fat paid lol. j/k let me know!

  1. You are probably talking about a cricket. Crickets are scavengers as well as herbivores. But it is definetly not a totally herbivorous grasshopper if it is eating dead insects. Also praying mantises never scavenge on dead insects. They only eat what they killed themselves. What? you dont think its a cricket? search for wart biter cricket and find some pics. They look similar to grasshoppers. However, I am unable to give the specific species of the bug in question without a pic.

    Katydids are also totally herbivorous
