  1. Well if you are into spinning around and stuff on the ice then you need "Figure Skater" skates with the toe pick.  Otherwise Hockey skates for general skating, or "Racing" skates with the really long blade for racing.

  2. If you go to a professional figureskating store they could probably pick out a good one. They start getting pricey like 200-300$

  3. id start off with a lower level reidel skate...their easily rebuilt and arent as costly as many others. they should last you a few levels before you really want to spend some money on better/higher quality skates.

  4. Depends...there are two types of ice skates: hockey and figure. The difference is the shape at the toe. I would recommend hockey skates, and some good brands are bauer, ccm, and many many others, but check out icewarehouse.com, epuck.com, and google ice hockey and you'll find plenty of good ones. And yes, depending on the skate they can range from $50 - $600 +, just depends on what you're doing with them.

  5. For spins and jumps, you'll want a skate with more ankle support and a better blade than what comes with recreational skates.  Usually for beginners, I suggest Riedells.  They have decent boot/blade sets that won't exactly break the bank.  I would go to  your nearest skate shop and get fitted for your skates to get the best fit for your feet.  At the shop, they should be able to recommend which model to get.  Sometimes you can find deals on skates on the internet, but you run the risk of them not fitting properly (size/width) and an incorrect size can not only hurt, but affect your skating.  You may also want to check out Jacksons, which from what I have heard run small.  Good luck and happy skating!
