What type of impression do police officers have upon society?

I know that many times cops are viewed in a negative light and portrayed negatively my the media but what type of image and reputation do they give you personally in a general manner?

That they need to work on their customer service skills. Bottom line is they provide a service to the community. I've had a few run in's with them (nothing serious). And I've been told I was a S****y driver, called speed racer, and threatened on one occasion to have my head cracked open.

Alot of people don't believe that I was cooperating, but I always was. And as far as I know I was never rude. I guess I would have more respect for them if they would have respect towards the people and not treat them so rudely.

as far as im concerned, nyc cops especially have gotten a pretty bad rap from the general public. however, my personal experience with them has always been helpful, courteous and pleasant. even when i got pulled over, the cops were polite and above all, professional. this is their job. we don't credit them enough when they're doing a great job but the first ones to attack. i think with every profession there are some bad eggs. but for the most part, police officers are there to protect and serve and i think we should give a little more credit where credits due.
