We are going to be holding a Bible study in our communitys clubhouse and were told we need Liability insurance....When doing a search online for it, I only come up with either business ( we are not a business, just a group of people) or I come up with car...........Any ideas of the exact name I should be searching online with?

Thanks and God bless ;0)

  1. General Liability; and it is categorized under business because you are not taking out a policy for personal usage.

  2. business

  3. If you have a condo owners or a renters policy, then you also have personal liability insurance on that same policy.  I would check with your agent to see if that liability insurance will cover you if you host a gathering in the club house.  It is not a business so I don't agree that you need commercial general liability insurance.  You probably already have what you need.

  4. I know you aren't a business, but it's going to be categorized that way. You will need to contact your local agent for a General Liability policy.

It shouldn't cost much and will protect you if anything should happen. Having the coverage fall under a commercial entity can be confusing, but it is correct.

  5. Your community club house should already have liability insurance.  I manage a condo community that has a clubhouse, the residents have bible study groups, different games, cards, etc. They already pay liability insurance through their monthly association fee.  I would first make sure they are not trying to make you pay it twice.

It seems like you could also be covered by your church's liability insurance.

Try searching "insurance for non-profit groups"

  6. This is a commercial liability policy, unless your church would let you use their insurance for this bible study, you'll have to buy a "cgl" policy.  It will probably run you around $750 a year.

That's why most people do bible studies in their home, or the church will lend you a room for free.
