I want to purchase an individual health insurance policy and need help with all the options! I'm planning on getting surgery on my foot as soon as I am insured. Other than that I am normally pretty healthy and don't need to visit the doctor but twice a year.. I'm 24 male non-smoker btw.

  1. Plans differ from one area to another.  In order to get the best plan at the best premium you are going to have to compare quotes.

    FIRST:

I would get as many quotes as possible.  You can easily do this through free on-line quoting services such as:

(Important) by requesting quotes from each of these services you will greatly increase your chance of receiving the righ plan for you at an affordable premium!)

    SECOND:

Choose 3 or 4 quotes that you feel are the best.

    THIRD:

Check the financial rating of the companies that you have chosen to make sure that they are financially sound.  You can do this at: http://www.ambest.com/

    FOURTH:

Read through and highlight anything that you don't understand and then call the companies or agents and ask them to explain.  Also I would ask if there is any optional coverage that they reccomend and ask why.

Also there is a great site at http://InsuranceEasy.org that list many resources and direct links to free on-line quoting services for almost any type of insurance that you need.

    I hope that this helps!

  2. You would have to lie on the application.  In some states it is fraud.

They ask have you been diagnosed with anything or advised to have any treatment that you have not yet had.

Insurance companies are to protect you from financial ruin.  They're a little too smart for you.

  3. I would go with Blue Cross Blue Shield for individuals. Since you are young and healthy you will get a good price. Choose a low deductible since you are going to have surgery. BTW, it might be a pre existing condition so check on whether or not the policy will cover that or if it even asks you about any medical conditions.  Keep the policy even if you don't think you need it..at 24 you still need health insurance.

  4. Yes, well, good luck with the bills that the insurance company is going to decline to pay because this is a pre-existing condition.

It doesn't matter which options you take.  It's not going to cover a surgery you already need.  They're going to heavily investigate, for any bills like surgery they get within the first year of coverage.

  5. based upon your situation,I think you should find something useful here.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  6. oh great,... now i know why our health insurance is so high...

let me guess, your voting for obama also?

  7. Unfortunately, if you need surgery on your foot, you will not be able to find a company to insure you for that, since it is pre-existing.

Even if you get the coverage by not disclosing the issues that need surgical correction, once the claims are submitted, they will be denied and chances are so will the policy.

Better look for a job with group coverage!
