  1. There are very few jobs in the air force where you life won't be at risk. I was in security forces for 8.5 years and deployed several times.  Even administration people (finance, personnel, etc ) are at risk even though they aren't on the frontline of which doesn't necessarily exist anymore.  I had an excellent career in the Air Force but remember first in foremost you signed to defend this country no matter what it takes. See if they have something in logistics, hope that helps.  Hope that helps and good luck.

  2. There's plenty of opportunity for administration type jobs in the Air Force, and if that's the kind of thing you enjoy, I think you'll love it.  However, if you're thinking of admin just to stay stateside, you can look at many other options.  You can get into medical records keeping, dental assisting, medical lab work, optometric assisting, and other medical stuff.  What I did ( and LOVED) was radio/television broadcasting.  Or you can be a still photographer or journalist.  You could also learn about computers and networks and information technology.  Another great one is meteorology and weather forecasting.  Or the Services field which handles the work at all the dining facilities, gyms, recreation centers, and libraries.

Any of these will give you good training for a civilian job.  But if you choose a job that you really like, and you take the opportunity to see the world, you may want to stay in.  I did, and I really love it.

  3. Well a 75 is an awesome score, but there are 4 other score you need to look at.  They are your "MAGE" scores.  You actually have 5 scores in total when you take the ASVAB.  The AFQT score (your 75 I am guessing) is just to see if you are eligible to join the Air Force.  You have to have at least a 37 to join the Air Force.  Then when it comes to job counseling we have to look at your MAGE scores.  (M=Mechanical, A=Administrative, G=General, E=Electronics)  Every Air Force Job has a requirement that you score a certain MAGE score.  For example...if you wanted to be a Medical Technician (civilian job is an EMT) you have to have a “G” score of at least 45.  The MAGE scores show what particular areas you are better at.  Some people prefer hands on and don't like administrative work so their scores might show an "M" of 90 and an "A" of 20.  Sometimes these score can surprise people and show them that they might be good in areas that they never thought of before.  For example if you scored over a 70 in electronics then maybe integrated avionics might be the career choice for you.

    Check out this link:  http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforcee...

That will take you to a page that lists the general job area in the air force.  Click on a job area and you will see the specific jobs for that area listed.  If you click on a job it will tell you the requirements for that job (i.e. your ASVAB score).  It is also going to list the physical requirements for that job.  Those numbers come off of the physical you took at he MEPS (or maybe are getting ready to take).  Each job requires that you have a certain level of health as well.

Either way, good luck and do your research.  It will ensure that you are better prepared to make a good decision next week.

  4. The overall asvab score, doesn't qualify you for any jobs.

It is just used to see if you can enlist or not.

    You need your area scores

    Administrative

    mechanical

    General

    Electronics

To see what jobs you qualify for.
