Question:

What type of lizard or gecko has a black body and a thick greenish yellow stripe down its back?

We found a lizard in the backyard that was inside the bark of a log. It was located in western washington. If anyone knows what type it was , if it could be a pet, or if its poisenous, ect. Let us know. Thanks

  1. wild reptiles dont make good pets most die within a month many more soon after taking a reptile out of the wild stresses out can make it ill and often shortens its lifespan my advice get a photo if u really want an ID and put it back asap

    there are only 3 types of poisonous lizard in the world non of which live in the usa

    If so, it is a Long-toed salamander. Not a lizard.

    You should release it where you found it. This species is very difficult for beginners.

  3. Wrong.  Sort of.  Venom can be poisonous, but poison can't be venomous.  Venom is injected, poison is ingested.

  4. There are only 7 species of lizards in Washington state. None of them are geckos.
